The Word for World is Forest

I think an extremely important aspect of The Word for World is Forest is the switched roles of men and women amongst Earth and the Athshean's planet. In the beginning of the text, Selver describes the peculiarity of the men's roles on Earth, where there isn't an equality but rather a conquest of male domination. The women on Earth are sent as cargo for men onto other planets for their pleasure, whereas the women on the peaceful Athshean planet are revered as head of cities and towns. Comparing between Selver and Captain Davidson, Selver was madly and ragingly attempting to kill Davidson after Davidson raped his wife and Davidson is unashamed of his desire for women only as a way to fulfill his pleasure and nothing more. The feminist quality Le Guinn brings into the story is an extremely interesting topic.
