Cabin in the Woods
is a horror film about horror films. There are five archetypes that are
featured and their deaths are linked with their archetype. The archetypes are the
following: whore, athlete, scholar, fool, and virgin. The five young adults are
punished by death in a controlled environment. For example, Jules isn't killed
until she is engaging in sexual acts in the forest. The purpose of having five
tropes and then a roulette type of set up for the monsters show that
essentially horror films have the same foundation. A mash up of five teenagers
and then monsters will entire the scene.
