The Father Thing
This story was incredibly creepy to me, to think that something could clone people and sprout them from the ground in such an unnatural and natural way all at the same time. I also like how the kid's imaginations are the only reason why this thing could be stopped since the grown ups have too narrow of a mind to take in the concept that, yes, something ate your husband and is now after your son. I also like that kids can put differences aside to help each other out for the greater good. The bully, the black kid, and what I'm assuming to be the whatever kid in the block unite to kill these horrendous creatures. It seems that as one gets older, it gets harder to work with people and cooperate in this society and get anything done as a team. The easiest example is politics: no one is willing to budge even if it could mean advancement in the right direction just because the party's opinion would not agree to a policy. I really liked Philip K. Dick's stories, they seem to metaphorically depict life in an easier way that is reachable to the mind without jumping through so many explaining loops and pullies. It's straight to the point, and simple to know what he's critiquing.
