Danger Word

I think out of the readings, Danger Word was probably the most unsettling. The usual depiction of zombies in movies or books concludes them to be slow, not very bright and just brutal; this is what Grandpa Joe first thinks of the zombies as well. His lack of knowledge or information is not only a weakness for him, but also for the reader. The audience has the same information Grandpa Joe does, and when he discovers that this zombie has actually taken on the role of Mike, it is completely horrifying. Then when Mike's boys are chasing after the car, it becomes even more disheartening because there's a sense of hopelessness. If the creatures could take on the human characteristics, there is almost no way to escape them; it instilled fear in me, and I can't even imagine what would happen to Kendrick.
