“Danger Word” is a short reading beautifully written by Seth Lindberg. He begins the story with little plot but eventually works up to letting the reader know that a zombie apocalypse had taken place. He has an interesting take on the idea of zombies and what they really are. The theme is much different than many zombie movies or stories that I have watched and read. Usually when I think of zombies, I get a vision of lifeless, bloody creatures that are only physically enact to eat human flesh. We see no emotions or human attributes. In contrast, Lindberg adds a touch of humanity to the zombies. As Grandpa Joe pulls up to the gas station, he sees that Mike acts a little strange. He still accepts Mike because he does not look like a zombie, he still had feelings, and could talk. Little did he know Mike was not normal at all. This caught my attention because Lindberg shows that zombies can still have a human inside them and they can still feel certain feelings. It puts emotion into the story of the fact that Mike was once a person and was once a friend to Grandpa Joe.
